Welcome to the secret section of my webpage that contains historical tracks that date as far back as 1986 when I was still in high school. If you have wandered here by accident, be prepared to run away screaming in fear as your soul is crushed with punishing and disturbingly bad Songs.

Dragon Chasing
These are the oldest recordings I have, some transfered from and old two-track reel to reel recorded just as the tape was falling apart from 20+ years of poor storage. The reels are now gone forever and this is all that remains.
Thr first Dragon Chasing track is the oldest composition I possess and it was a happy mistake created by hooking up my Korg DW-6000 with a Roland TR-505 drum machine via a newly implemented instrument language called MIDI. Corby added the low end with his fancy new bass guitar.
Three tracks contain Corby and Steve screaming into a boombox as I play keyboards. We were mocking music styles we did not like.
The last tracks are instrumental versions of our first studio recordings.

Sanctuary
As we finished high school we began branching out a bit. Corby left to work with a band from across town called Exposition. It didn't last long, and eventually the two bands exchanged members and phase II begins with instrumental only tracks from Todd, Steve, and Phil.
Unto I was a track that was orignally composed by Me, Steve, and Corby when we took over the house when my parents went to Europe for a month.
The Roland D-50 had just come out and we made extensive use of all the cliche presets.
Sanctuary is an updated version of Dragon Chasing with multiple keyboard tracks.
I believe we started using sequencers during this phase, but most pieces were still played live.

During this phase of Will I Dream we were all electronic and we started using more and more sequencing as the parts became more aggressive and inhumanely complex.
These tracks were all written by Me, Phil and Steve. Many were later recorded with vocals by either Steve or Corby who had recently re-entered the fold.
There were the beginnings of some rhythmic stylings here, but the machines of this era handled divisions of time in strict measurements.
I wrote the last track the night before we went into the studio to record and threw it in at the last minute. That was the only time it was ever played.

Adding vocals to songs that already have too much going on is never a good idea, but we did it anyway. The first 4 tracks feature Steve singing, and the last 5 feature Corby.
The songs were written by me, Phil, and Steve. The words were all written by steve as far as I can remember.
These are funny now, but they weren't meant to be at the time.

Somethings Got to Fall
While electronic instruments were still part of our identity, we started drifting towards real instruments during this phase. I picked up the guitar less than six months before we recorded these and Corby continued to play bass.
The You Inside of Me was the last track I wrote using keyboards and it was guitar only moving forward. I picked it up relatively quick, all things considered, and the transition really changed our song writing. As a lefty i still regret being forced to learn right-handed, but eventually I would move back to primarily using keyboards anyway.
We were listening to a lot of Sisters of Mercy, Mission UK, and Peter Gabriel's soundtrack to The Last Temptation of Christ. You can hear bits and pieces of these influences in the tracks.

Mothers Hands
This period represents the end of our band as soon after we began to splinter and move on to bigger and better things as individuals.
At this point we were a fully rounded group with live drums, guitar, bass, keys, and vocals.
Grunge music had just burst onto the scene and we were ill-equipped to adapt or compete.
After a year or two of touring we called it quits. We all likely have fond memories of this period in our lives.
Corby Gallegos - Vocals
Todd Masten - Guitar
Phil Browne - Bass
Bill Larkin - Drums
Steve Weickowski - Keys

We tried to reunite for a while and keep things going, but we were spread far enough apart that it simply was not feasible.
We recorded instrumental tracks at practice one day for some reason and here it is. I cleaned up the tracks as best I could, but the quality isn't great. This is me, Phil, and Bill practicing in the bunker in Claremont.
Very shortly after this I was accepted to Berklee and left for good.
Corby was at Cal Arts purusing art and theatre. Phil went on to finish his communications degree at Cal State Fullerton. Steve moved to the bay area where he studied English and Literature. Bill joined up with former Zero Hour band members to form The Color Red.

Torn
I had to choose an instrument to pursue when I arrived at Berklee and I was very much torn between the guitar and the piano.
Eventually I felt the piano would give me a better chance as a composer, and I put the guitar away. I still used the guitar extensively in my first year as demonstrated in these tracks, but over the years it would receive less and less attention.
My song writing really matured while I was there and I made great strides in learning theory, harmony, counterpoint and orchestration.
I believe all of these were written in my first year at Berklee. Corby came out for a visit in the winter and added vocals to the final track Torn.

Underneath the Falling Rain
At some point Between Will I Dream and Raintime Corby and Bill united to record a track called Underneath the Falling Rain.
Corby has always had a great grasp on more upbeat and optomisitc writing styles as is showcased here. I believe Paul Henry played the acoustic guitar track.
I remixed and remastered the track as best I could from an old cassette copy.

Last Farewell
During the old Will I Dream days, Corby got abducted by aliens and left to join a new band called Exposition. Phil and Bill were also part of this collaboration and we would all later join forces.
I did the best I could to clean up the orignal cassette recording which was over 20 years old. Basically a boombox was set up in the middle of a room and a recording was made. So it is what it is after I tried to dial up some of the high-mids and cut some of the booming low-mids after applying some noise reduction.
